Meet Your Planner

—a former traveling nurse turned event planner with a passion for turning everyday moments into sweet celebrations. Born and raised in Michigan, I’ve found my creative home in San Francisco, where my love for art, people, and joyful design all come together.

While earning my nursing degree at Eastern Michigan University, I spent every spare minute planning events, selling my artwork, and hosting community art workshops. These early creative roots now flourish through event design, where I blend thoughtful detail with a touch of silly.

One of the things I love most about event planning is creating space for the tiny, fleeting moments that make life worth living —the belly laughs shared over wine, the tears in a groom’s eyes when he sees his partner for the first time, the proud joy of a parent watching their child walk down the aisle, or the sweet, messy happiness of a kid licking icing off the cake. I live for those moments and feel honored to help bring them to life.

Growing up, my father would always find a reason to celebrate, and I bring that into Squid Inc. Social. I approach every event with soul, artistry, and a deep respect for your story. With a knack for staying cool under pressure, an eye for beauty, and a love for human connection, I’m here to make your vision a reality —your way, with a twist of magic.

When I’m not planning events, you’ll find me hiking coastal trails, gallery-hopping around SF, or sipping something new at my latest coffee find(with a sketchbook in hand).

Sidney Phan — you can call me “Sid”

The name "Squid" was a nickname I was given in childhood; a name that I never integrated into my identity until now. What started as a silly rhyme for “Sid”, became a symbol that represents something that has always been in my life, just waiting to be embraced, much like event planning. Choosing to go with the name Squid Inc. Social Events & Design helped me celebrate the spirit of being flexible and one-of-a-kind, traits that shape both my nickname and my business today.

Why the name Squid Inc. Social?
