Hi, I’m Sidney Phan — you can call me “Sid”

— Founder and Lead Planner of Squid Inc. Social Events & Design, and someone who believes that every day holds a reason to celebrate.

Before stepping into event planning, I worked as a traveling nurse — moving from hospital to hospital during the height of COVID. That season of life showed me, more than anything, how deeply people need connection. I watched how much joy, love, and healing come from simply being together, and it reminded me that finding a reason to celebrate isn’t just fun — it’s essential.

Born and raised in Michigan, I eventually found my creative home in San Francisco, where my love for art, people, and joyful design all meet. Even while earning my nursing degree at Eastern Michigan University, I spent every spare moment planning gatherings, selling my artwork, and hosting community workshops. Creativity has always been my language — now, I get to speak it through events.

What I love most about this work are the small, human moments that make life sweet — the laughter shared over a glass of wine, the quiet tears during a first look, a parent’s proud smile, or the messy happiness of a child sneaking a lick of frosting. Those tiny moments are why I do what I do.

At Squid Inc. Social, I bring heart, artistry, and a steady hand to every celebration. My goal is to help you see and feel the love that’s already there — in every detail, every hug, every shared laugh.

The name "Squid" was a nickname I was given in childhood; a name that I never integrated into my identity until now. What started as a silly rhyme for “Sid”, became a symbol that represents something that has always been in my life, just waiting to be embraced, much like event planning. Choosing to go with the name Squid Inc. Social Events & Design helped me celebrate the spirit of being flexible and one-of-a-kind, traits that shape both my nickname and my business today.
